Windows XP Gets another six months life
Microsoft's deadline for allowing OEMs to sell PCs with systems that are "downgraded" from Windows Vista to XP has been officially extended for six more months to January 31, 2009. The information is based on one leaked email sent to an OEM. Earlier this deadline date was July 31, 2008.
Microsoft to Open Web Search R&D in Paris, London and Munich.
After several fail deals to acquire search company Yahoo!, Microsoft is doing everything to catch Google in the field of Internet search marketing. Another step from Microsoft is that they are opening three research centers in Europe. The three centers will be in Paris, London and Munich.
"We are the challenger, not the leader, in search, but we believe strongly that search is in its infancy and there is so much room for innovation," chief executive Steve Ballmer told a news conference in Paris.

Google starts SMS Channels for India
Google in India launched a new Labs service called Google SMS Channels in India. The service “lets you subscribe to news alerts, blog updates and other kinds of information like horoscopes, jokes, stocks or even cricket scores via SMS text messages,” adding that Google SMS Channels are “free both for content publishers as well as mobile phone users who subscribe to text updates via SMS.”
